If back-to-school supplies don’t break the bank, back-to-school clothes definitely will. Or so I’ve heard. Thankfully I have two boys, so “fashion” isn’t a word we toss around here very much. But I may have seen a slight glimpse of what the future could hold as Brady helped me pick out his outfit for his first day of school… AT the store. Say what?! (At least he shopped the sale rack!)
I generally dress Brady in pretty grungy clothes for preschool, because all he does is play. And play hard! Most of his “school clothes” are from Walmart or Carter’s. I love all the mix-and-match separates they have for between $3-$8 a piece (depending on store, sales, coupons, etc.) I NEVER pay more than $15 for an outfit for him for school. But his first day was just an orientation, so I decided to “splurge” on an outfit from Baby GAP so he could rock his First Day photos and link up to Trendy Tot Tuesday (what do you expect, I’m a blogger!)
{exact shirt and short not available online, but may be available in your local store. here are a similar shirt/similar short}
I just love the way he looks in blue, and I always gravitate towards bright, bold colors. He loves wearing button down shirts; I think they make him feel older. He calls them “worker man shirts”. I wish I could get him out of those nasty Crocs, but I’m learning to pick my battles.
If you have older kids, Kristin has put together a great collage of cool back-to-school fashions for both boys and girls. It’s 80 degrees here in NorCal, so it’s hard to think about Fall clothes, but it will be chilly before we know it. Now’s a great time to stock up on basic sweaters, coats and shoes!
